Wall Plaques
I promised you this in January! I finished them soon after...I swear! I just have not had time to share them.First, I started with 4 wooden rectangular plaques from Hobby Lobby. Each one cost $2.99. I then purchased a large wall mural from ebay. This one cost me $14.99. I cut out the pieces I wanted and organized them how I liked.
Next, I used white spray paint primer to prepare for color. Make sure that the adhesive design is securely attached to the wood in all places.
Can you see the mural design underneath? This was after 2 coats. I let it dry overnight and then began using an exacto knife to carefully pull up and peel off the adhesive design. If done right, this will expose the natural wood only where the design was placed. Take your time on this step so that you don't begin pulling of paint in areas that are not covered by the design.
I would have liked to use a darker color paint to show a greater contrast between it and the natural wood, but I really wanted a light color to go against my wall paint.
Here is the final project after it was placed on my wall. Can you tell that I have done a bit of remodeling in my room as well?
